The Kassák Museum is a member institution of the Petőfi Literary Museum, operating since 1976 in the Zichy Castle building in Óbuda. Its mission is to preserve, scientifically process and widely promote the material and intellectual legacy of Lajos Kassák (1887-1967), a versatile and outstanding figure of the Hungarian avant-garde. The museum's aim is to perform these tasks to a high standard, to be a renowned venue for Kassák research in the region and an active player in domestic and international avant-garde and modernism research, and to represent and preserve Kassák's artistic and intellectual heritage in a dignified manner.

In our permanent exhibition, the public can discover the work of Lajos Kassák through the journals he edited. In the museum's temporary exhibitions, we present the phenomena of avant-garde and modernism in a historical, cultural and social context, both in Hungary and abroad. The museum also offers educational programmes for almost all age groups, museum education sessions, family and children's programmes, lecture series and conferences.
